Art Build

Most feedback I have received since the last devlog deals with major overarching goals, so I am focusing on small parts of each and trying to push to achieve the goals. This includes adding more scenes, making the art less stagnant, focusing on reflection and repetitiveness, etc. The idea surrounding the game has not changed, however, it seems that I need to focus and research more closely about how to get players to think, reflect, and add themselves to the game for the full effect of my idea to be realized.  It is fairly difficult to create a game that wants the players to reflect and put themselves as the main character with minimal dialogue, as dialogue is the main thing that would push someone to think about conversations. But that is the issue with my game, I do not want there to be dialogue since dialogue can lead the player into a certain way of thinking. I want the player to see the changes in the background and wonder what happened then from that thought process a story for what happened will be created. Art is an essential part of that thinking and thought process. I need to research and focus on how to take such art that may not look too good and push the player to make a narrative of their own and not take a story that I created. Take this explosion:

Explosion

This explosion is put into scenes to make the player think as to what happened in the world that would cause such a thing to have been detonated such as a war broke out, or maybe a nuclear reactor was tampered with, etc.

Building 1 destroyedBuilding 1 more destroyed

Buildings also change in ways to allow the player to think about what happened between scenes, while both images above could easily be considered to lead to the same outcome of destruction. It is the events that lead to said outcomes that the player will be focusing on and trying to figure out what happened in the world to lead to such destruction, and it could be different for even both of the destroyed buildings, one could simply be war, while the other could be war mixed with natural disasters. Since last update my main focus was mainly working in unity to make sure everything was working correctly and flowing smoothly. The main issue has been making sure that the positioning of assets is correctly ordered in the world, but this is a simple fix that requires me to go through and make sure the ones that need to be in front have priority.
